11.14.2008  Sydney & Brian engagement video

We don't shoot a lot of event videography. It's a pretty specialized and competitive business in the New York/Long Island area. But every once in a while, we get an offer that's just too good to refuse.

So, we trotted out our HD camera and headed into the heart of Brooklyn to capture our favorite soon-to-be newlyweds, Sydney and Brian. Our mission was to capture them in their native habitat and deliver a video that reflected their personalities: casual and fun -- with a bit of Brooklyn attitude -- and very much in love.

Sydney & Brian were married on November 8th. They're on their honeymoon right now, but thanks to Vimeo, they can still check out their new engagement session video which was shot just a few weeks ago.

Congrats you two!

10.18.2008  We've moved!

Our studio has moved to a new location. The P.O. Box is still valid. We've temporarily taken the phone numbers off the site until we're fully up and running with new, permanent numbers. There is much unpacking to be done.

02.19.2008  Wavecrest Slideshow

Wavecrest Studio specializes in wedding photography, and they do some really nice work. For a recent expo appearance, however, they wanted to kick up their presentation a bit. They sent us a collection of some of their best digital imagery and asked us to create a slideshow that could be played on an HD monitor in their booth.

We built a concept for the piece, then added original music, motion graphics, and titling. Final output was in HD and also Flash for their web site. Check it out on the Projects page.

01.3.2008  40 Years Later -- Newsday's #1 Album of 2007

Newsday entertainment reporter Rafer Guzmán published his "Year's Best" column for 2007 and Tom Griffith's 40 Years Later came in at #1. Guzmán writes, “In these funny, poignant, sometimes angry songs, various boomer characters take stock of their lives 40 years after the Summer of Love... Griffith's disc is like a little novel that gets better with each read.”

Way to go Tom!

12.6.2007  Prominence is keeping us busy!

Development on our upcoming science-fiction adventure game, Prominence, has jumped ahead by leaps and bounds. We recently held a Q&A about the game at the Adventure Developers Online Conference, release the first work-in-progress screenshots from the game, and have been interviewed by several members of the gaming press. If you haven't stopped by the official site lately, check it out. We've even got some wallpaper and a monthly newsletter.

11.1.2007  ESP Flame Inhibitor videos

Our friends at Henri LLC recently asked for some help on a new product that can save lives. How could we say no? It's called the ESP Flame Inhibitor, and it's basically a fire extinguisher without the mess that's also safe for the environment and has a ridiculously long shelf life.

The project consisted of transferring and converting a series of videos that were originally shot overseas into Flash video and NTSC DVD. We also developed a simple web site for the product, carrying over design elements from existing print promotion that had already been created.

04.4.2007  DMW Announces Prominence Adventure Game

Digital Media Workshop, Inc. is proud to announce Prominence, a new point-and-click adventure game scheduled for release in 2008.

Set in a futuristic universe, Prominence uses a first-person panoramic viewpoint with animated effects. The player awakens in a strange yet somehow familiar high-tech facility of some kind, and what begins as simple exploration soon twists and turns its way into an evolving mystery that is revealed by physical clues, audio recordings, data archives, and a damaged central computer system in need of repairs.

The game’s official Web site is now online at http://www.prominencegame.com and contains more information about the game, including concept art, story details, and more. Visitors can also sign-up for the Prominence newsletter, which will offer the latest news about the game and behind-the-scenes information about the production.

03.6.2007  Tom Griffith Looks Back 40 Years Later

Long-time producer, former jingle maven and Mom & Pop Records' artist Tom Griffith has put the finishing touches on his latest CD release, 40 Years Later. Most of the album was recorded and mixed here at DMW, and was co-produced by Mike Morrison.

The album focuses on life as a baby boomer, and while it is not entirely autobiographical, the subject matter will be quite identifiable to anyone who grew up during the '60's and early '70's. The psychedelically-inspired "She Was A Strange Girl" offers a whimsical look at the 'first drug experience' that many encountered during the sixties, while "No Love Is Free" turns the concept of 'free love' on its ear after a bitter divorce.

It's not all tongue-in-cheek, though. The honest sentiment of tracks like "Rising Sun" and "Every Once In A While" provide gentle reminders of what truly matters, and contrast nicely against the driving intensity and dense arrangements of "Just Got Away From Me" and "Still Lookin' Over My Shoulder".

40 Years Later includes 12 tracks. The finished mixes were mastered at Classic Sound in NYC.

Sound clips from the album can be accessed via the album's Web site at http://www.40yearslater.com.
